My current focus is on helping nurses to improve their policy leadership competencies through action learning and professional development, and helping them to create nursing strategies and action plans, particularly at national level. I have led/supported these processes in countries as diverse as Belize, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Kurdish Region of Iraq, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova and Mongolia, and with international groups of senior nurse leaders through the World Health Organization and the International Council of Nurses. 

I am a versatile health care consultant, general manager and nurse with skills in problem-solving, project management, analysis and report-writing. I have expertise in health systems development, especially strengthening nursing systems; strategic planning and policy development for human resources; training, including leadership, professional development and management; learning materials development; journalism and communications.

My varied portfolio includes work as a management consultant, strategic planner, project manager, trainer, facilitator, communications expert and author supporting strategy, planning, projects and personal/professional development in a variety of organisations.

My main areas of expertise are nursing, human resources for health, health systems, and communications. I am also a best-selling author on nursing, and an award-winning journalist. I have completed many successful consultancies for a wide range of clients in the UK and overseas.
